Pope Francis has announced that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee – an event that happens every 25 years. The theme for the upcoming Jubilee is “Pilgrims of Hope”.The 2025 Jubilee will begin in Advent 2024 and will run until the Feast of the Epiphany in 2026. It's a global event initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1986 to foster a sense of the universal Church and encourage young people to live out their faith in the world and to draw attention to a given set of cultural surrounding youth.The 2027 International Catholic World Youth Day will be held in Seoul, South Korea. The theme for this event, which will be held in the summer of 2027, is "Take Courage!". This will be the first time the event is held in a predominantly non-Christian country. The Holy Father announced that the event will be held in Seoul at the end of the 2023 World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal.These celebrations both strengthen communities, and, through the use of shared scriptural themes, help prepare the Church for its major international gatherings, the next of which will be the Jubilee of Young People in 2025 and then World Youth Day in Seoul, Korea, in 2027.While these events are organized by the clergy and laity of the Catholic Church, youth of all faiths.
