Mercy of Jubilee(“Pilgrims of Hope”) 2025
Pope Francis has announced that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee – an event that happens every 25 years. The theme for the upcoming Jubilee is “Pilgrims of Hope”.The 2025 Jubilee will begin in Advent 2024 and will run until the Feast of the Epiphany in 2026. The dedication of a year for this emphasis provided the community with a time to come back into right relationship with one another and with God.A Jubilee year is a tradition that is recognised and respected throughout the world as being a significant part of the history of our faith.Excluding the Extraordinary Year of Mercy in 2015, the last Jubilee year took place in 2000, marking an historic moment as the Church entered into her third millennium.A Jubilee is a special year of grace, in which the Catholic Church offers the faithful the possibility of asking for a plenary indulgence – a remission of sins for themselves or deceased loved ones.The year begins with the well-known custom of the opening of the Holy Door at St Peter’s Basilica, following the other three papal basilicas in Rome. The Pope grants permission for Holy Doors to be situated throughout the world for Catholics everywhere to take part in this most special rite.
WAF International Congress and Pilgrims 2025
The World Apostolate of Fatima(WAF)in collaboration with the Shrine of Fatima, is organizing an international theological-pastoral congress on “The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary” in Fatima, Portugal, followed by a Pilgrimage to Pontevedra and Santiago de Compostela, Spain, to participate in the centenary of the apparition of Our Lady and the Child Jesus to Sister Lucia, on December 10, 2025.The World Apostolate of Fatima is preparing an international Congress and a pilgrimage to Fatima and Pontevedra from December 5 to 12, 2025.Marian Pilgrimages are apparitions and miracles associated with the Blessed Virgin Mary. Among the most beloved sites for Marian Pilgrimages include Our Lady of Fátima, Our Lady of Lourdes, The Sanctuary of Black Virgin of Montserrat, and The Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, in Zaragoza Spain.A pilgrimage is a journey to a holy place, which can lead to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns to their daily life. A pilgrim is a traveler (literally one who has come from afar) who is on a journey to a holy place.We ask your blessing as we travel today in spirit; Guide our minds as we learn of those who came before us, traversing the pilgrim way.
International Catholic World Youth Day 2027
The International Catholic World Youth Day will be held in Seoul, South Korea. The purpose of (WYD) is to provide a space for young Catholics from around the world to gather, celebrate their faith and deepen their relationship with Christ. It's a global event initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1986 to foster a sense of the universal Church and encourage young people to live out their faith in the world and to draw attention to a given set of cultural surrounding youth.The 2027 International Catholic World Youth Day will be held in Seoul, South Korea. The theme for this event, which will be held in the summer of 2027, is "Take Courage!". This will be the first time the event is held in a predominantly non-Christian country. The Holy Father announced that the event will be held in Seoul at the end of the 2023 World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal.These celebrations both strengthen communities, and, through the use of shared scriptural themes, help prepare the Church for its major international gatherings, the next of which will be the Jubilee of Young People in 2025 and then World Youth Day in Seoul, Korea, in 2027.While these events are organized by the clergy and laity of the Catholic Church, youth of all faiths.
